Dear Parents and families,
As you will know from yesterday's communication, there are rising cases of Covid-19 in Waltham Forest and it was recommended that schools consider moving to online learning to help prevent further spread across our community. Today, the vast majority of our children took part in online learning and our school was open to Critical Worker and Vulnerable children. Your children have been amazing online and we are again reminded of their resilience, sense of humour and adaptability! Thank you to all our families for their support with this today.
This afternoon, we a received a directive from the Secretary of State for Schools, Nick Gibb, requesting that all pupils in Waltham Forest return to school from tomorrow 16th December 2020 for face to face learning at their usual designated drop off time. Therefore, online learning will not be happening for the remainder of the week and children can return to school. The term will end as planned on 18th December 2020 - please check the collection time in the communications sent out previously for your child's class/year group. After school and breakfast clubs will remain closed until January.
We recognise that this has been a confusing few days and information has come to you late in the day, however as a community maintained school we follow the advice and guidance of Waltham Forest Council and have waited this week until we have received confirmation each day from them about next steps and actions.
Thank you also to our patient staff members who have risen to the different challenges this term has brought with smiles and commitment.
Emerald class will continue to self-isolate until 20th December and will continue their remote learning online.
Thank you so much to all our families for their understanding and support during these challenging times.
See you tomorrow.
