Friends of Henry Maynard School, or FoHMS (formally known as the 'PTA') was formed to help the school raise funds for the benefits of nursery, infants and junior school children, and has been established for many years.
Parents and carers of children in the school automatically join FoHMS, but are under no obligation to remain members.
We are a registered charity with a formal constitution and a commitee. Our core volunteer team consists of two co-chairs [Beth Hughes and Rebecca Teers], a secretary [Sarah Sutcliffe] and a treasurer [Martin Kearney]. There is also a wider team of volunteer parents and teaching staff, who help us on a regular basis.
FoHMS' key purpose is to advance the education of the pupils in the school by:
- developing more extended relationships between the staff and parents and others associated with the school.
-engaging in activities which support the school and advance the education of the pupils attending.
-provide and assist in the provision of facilities for education at the school (not normally provided by the LA) by encouraging parents to volunteer and by arranging a variety of social activities, catering for all sections of the community, which will enable the staff, parents, governors, friends and others concerned with the school to meet informally.
Events take a lot of planning, organising and managing, and we can’t deliver without the support of parents and teachers; any and all help is greatly appreciated! FoHMS is a flexible, friendly and inclusive organization and everyone is welcome.
